CITATION
"Destiny Foundation, 16-year-old Kolkata-based social enterprise with a chapter in San Francisco, is dedicated to disrupting cycles of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. They work with some of the most vulnerable groups: survivors of trafficking, women and youth living in slums and red-light areas, and children in government shelter homes, focusing on survivor rehabilitation and the prevention of intergenerational exploitation. To date, Destiny Foundation has positively impacted over 2,500 individuals across Kolkata and Northeast India.
Destiny Foundation's Co-Founder and Director, Ms Smarita Sengupta, strives to intersect the importance of economic stimulation, business-driven solutions and social good. She has brought together people from different parts of the world, motivating students and young professionals to join her endeavour. The Organisation's leadership team includes global experts and individuals with lived experience of whom serve as volunteers. most
Destiny operates through a hybrid model comprising its non-profit arm, Destiny Foundation, and its social business arm, Reflection. Destiny provides skill training, safe shelter, education, life-skills programmes, mentorship, and a trusted community for survivors and vulnerable young women and children.
Reflection, in turn, employs the marginalised women and markets their products in both domestic and international markets, creating dignified livelihood opportunities.
We are extremely pleased to present the Ladies Study Group Charitable Trust Award 2025 in well-merited recognition of Destiny Foundation's highly commendable endeavours over the years."
